Andy Burnham has long called for reform of the House of Lords. Now, as Prime Minister, it’s time for him to act.

The Government must launch a public consultation into the future of the House of Lords, as promised in the Labour Party manifesto.

In the meantime, the government must urgently reform the House of Lords’ Appointments Commission to ensure that peerages are only awarded based on merit and experience.
