When MPs accept gifts and freebies, it opens the door to conflicts of interest and undermines the public's trust in our politics. 

The Speaker should set an example for all MPs by rejecting the gifts that are offered to him. 

The Speaker must also support a ban on MPs accepting freebies, and recommend this measure to the Committee on Standards.
