The government published the Devolution White Paper just before Christmas. It sets out radical plans that could transform who is responsible for delivering which policies or services where. Mayors would get more powers, but district councils in England would be abolished and larger councils created.
But what do these changes mean for local communities, governance, and economic growth? Will these reforms empower citizens by giving them a stronger voice, or will they centralise control in ways that risk overlooking local priorities?
Join us to hear from experts how they view these proposals and whether they will give people a bigger voice and deliver economic growth.
